With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved vadil mother, Smt. Sushila Laxman Shah (Jhankharia), on 17th December 2024, in London.

Smt. Sushila was born in Kharaberaja, Saurashtra, India.  She later migrated to Kenya, where she lived in Nairobi and Mombasa, building a fulfilling life over five decades before eventually settling in London, UK.

Beloved wife of Late Shri Laxman Karman (Jhankharia of Rasangpur),

Ladki daughter (daughter-in-law) of Smt. Rajal  & Shri Devan Jivraj (Visaria);

Smt. Veji & Shri Karman Pancha (Jhankharia)

Sister (sister-in-law) of Meghji Devan (Maniben), Kasturben (Somchand Kumbha), Lakhamshi Devan (Motiben), Hansraj Devan (Heeraben), Bharmal Karman (Rupaben), Meghji Karman (Amratben), Nemchand Karman (Hansaben), Jiviben (Murag Mulji Nagda), Ladhiben (Kachra Haria), Puriben (Premchand Haria), Rambhaben (Mulji Gudka).

Loving mother (mother-in-law) to Paresh (Jyotika), Rajesh (Sonal) and Late Rohit (Pallavi).

Smt. Sushila was a courageous and independent woman who, despite not having extensive formal education, cultivated a lifelong love for Gujarati reading and writing. Blessed with the gift of eloquence, she captivated audiences with her storytelling and brought life to the Satsang gatherings she led with clarity and conviction.

She had a passion for social work and tirelessly contributed to the community. Deeply rooted in Jain principles, she lived by her values and followed her heart, supporting numerous charitable ventures. For her, ‘Oshwal’ was more than just a community—it was her second home, both in Kenya and the UK.

Sushila-Ba leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and wisdom that fills us, the family, with pride and gratitude. We pray for her soul to attain Sadgati and eternal peace.
