Foreword from the Chair
To OAUK Members,
On behalf of the Board of Advisors, it is our privilege and honour to serve Oshwal Association of the UK and to contribute to its continued strength, integrity and future development.
This Board brings together the institutional knowledge and experience of Past Presidents with the professional expertise and perspectives of elected Advisors. As a Board we are here to provide the Executive Committee with an independent source for advice, guidance and where appropriate, also challenge constructively, matters that we believe are in the best interests of OAUK and its members.
Our role is to support the long-term interests of OAUK by:
- providing independent advice on significant matters
- bringing experience, perspective and institutional knowledge to decision-making
- supporting strong governance, transparency and accountability
- helping preserve continuity and knowledge for future generations
The Board works constructively and collaboratively with the Executive Committee, while maintaining the independence necessary to provide considered and objective advice.
To strengthen our governance framework, we have developed the Board of Advisors Terms of Reference, building on Section 18 of the Constitution and providing greater clarity around the Board’s role and working practices.
The BOA will have regular meetings with the EC and Office Bearers to share knowledge and discuss any areas where we can assist and support the Trustees in their work. To ensure that reports and recommendations presented by the BOA to the EC and OB’s are reviewed and considered, a register of significant matters will be kept and agreed outcomes noted. This will support greater accountability and continuity for our Association.
OAUK has a history going back almost 60 years in the UK. It has been built by the dedication of generations past. . Our focus is to help protect that legacy while supporting an Association that continues to evolve, governed with integrity, sound judgement and the long-term interests of its members at heart.
We look forward to working with the Executive Committee, committees, volunteers and members in support of OAUK’s continued success.
