A Weekend Full of Fun, Friendship and Community Spirit

A Weekend Full of Fun, Friendship and Community Spirit
NW Area Children’s Sleepover 2026

What a truly special weekend it was! The NW Area Children’s Sleepover 2026 brought together children, parents and volunteers for an unforgettable experience filled with laughter, learning and the wonderful spirit of our community. From the moment the children arrived, the excitement was in the air — and it continued right through to the colourful finale.

Saturday 2.00pm The adventure began at Ekta Derasar, where the children were warmly welcomed. A short and inspiring talk by Dr Mukulbhai helped set the perfect tone for the weekend ahead, reminding everyone of the values and togetherness that make our community so special.

3.00pm
. Soon the energy in the room lifted as lively icebreakers got everyone moving. Coach Alkesh, Payal K, Payal V and Tarang kicked things off with fun activities designed to help the children get to know one another. Our fantastic youth volunteers then took the lead, running interactive challenges and games that kept the excitement going. From musical chairs to fast-paced team games, the room quickly filled with laughter as new friendships began to form.

4.00pm
One of the highlights of the day was the ever-popular Mad Science session. With bubbling experiments and hands-on activities, the children watched in amazement as science came to life right before their eyes, sparking curiosity and plenty of “wow” moments.

6.00pm
After such an action-packed day, everyone was ready for a delicious dinner of Jiko pizzas, chips and ice cream — a firm favourite with the children! The fun didn’t stop there though. The evening continued with more games organised by our energetic youth volunteers, followed by a lively disco where the children danced, laughed and simply enjoyed being together.

7.30pm
A joyful round of garba brought a wonderful cultural touch to the evening before everyone settled down for movie time, complete with hot chocolate and popcorn. And of course, no sleepover would be complete without a midnight treat, which went down very well before the children finally settled in for the night.

Sunday 6.30 am. The next morning began with breakfast and Darshan at the Derasar — a calm and reflective moment after the excitement of the previous evening.

9.00am. The children then enjoyed a fun and interactive Maths Magic session led by Keval and Arti. Through clever tricks and puzzles, they challenged the children’s problem-solving skills while keeping them thoroughly entertained.

Meanwhile, parents began arriving and were welcomed with a traditional breakfast. It created a lovely atmosphere as families gathered, chatted and celebrated the collective effort that had made the event possible.

Giving Back

Thanks to the generosity of the families attending, the sleepover also collected a wonderful number of donations for the Brent Foodbank. This simple but meaningful act of kindness reflected the compassion and values that sit at the heart of the Oshwal community.

11.15am A Colourful Holi Finale

To close the weekend, everyone gathered in the car park for a vibrant Holi celebration led by Coach Tarang. Clouds of colour filled the air as children, parents and volunteers laughed and celebrated together. It was the perfect joyful ending to an incredible weekend.

A Weekend to Remember

For some children, this was their very first Oshwal sleepover. For others, it was their final one before moving on to the next stage. But for everyone involved, it was a weekend filled with memories, friendships and moments that will be remembered for years to come.

Events like this remind us that our community is not only built through tradition, but through the time, care and dedication of the many people who come together to create opportunities for our children.
