Bhajan and Bhojan

Bhajan/Bhojan at The Shakti Centre (10th July 2016)

The day started at 9am with the volunteers arriving to cook for the Bhojan and to set up the hall for the certificates given to donors.

At 12.30 donors arrived and were served tea, cake (made by Diptiben) and biscuits.

Certificates were presented to the donors that had to be honoured for donations for the Shakti Centre that could not be accommodated at the official opening

Just as the hour was hitting 2pm people started to arrive at Shakti Centre, they took their seats inanticipation of hearing the delightful Bhajans.

Chimanbhai, our Chairman started the event with his opening speech and showed a video on the Battle of the Somme in remembrance of the Indian soldiers which helped Britain in World War1

After a minute silence the Bhajans were started by Roopal and friends.

The group kept the community entertained with many classical and popular Bhajans of which the community joined in with by singing along and clapping loudly.

“TIME FLIES WHEN YOU ARE HAVING FUN”.

The group played for over 2 hours but it seemed like less as the saying goes

The hall was nearly full capacity, and we thank everyone for their kind donations on the day.

The Bhojan was served straight away afterwards with delighted faces and lots of positive feedback from everybody including Roopal and friends saying “what a great audience”.

So much so, that you can hear Roopal again at Paryushan at the Garba night on Saturday 3rd September.
