International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) – 2023

The International Day of People with Disabilities (IDPD), observed annually on December 3rd, aims to promote the rights and well-being of individuals with disabilities. The day serves as a platform to raise awareness about the challenges they face and to mobilise support for their dignity, rights, and inclusion in all aspects of society. Celebrated worldwide, IDPD encourages communities to create environments that embrace diversity and provide equal opportunities for everyone.

This year’s theme is “United in action to rescue and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for, with and by persons with disabilities”. *

Enabling Network (EN) is part of OAUK and was formed in 2010. EN’s vision is to raise awareness about disabilities, both physical and learning, and create inclusion and integration for those with disabilities within the Oshwal community.

EN runs the Enabling Sports and Social Club (ESSC) on a regular basis which offers a range of activities for our members, including various organised various events, excursions and workshops to raise awareness about disabilities.

Each year, OAUK and EN celebrate IDPD in different ways. In line with the IDPD theme for 2023, OAUK and EN are celebrating by recognising the Oshwal community’s accomplishments to date in fostering a more equitable community for our members and highlighting our future aspirations. These are detailed in a booklet for this years’ theme.
