LATE JAYANTILAL DEVCHAND RAMJI SHAH ‘JD’ (DODHIA) – Advocate/Barrister ( Grays Inn)

12 May 1944 – 24 July 2022

It’s true the mountain calls us by our name and it’s a spiritual hike’…Dad’s words describing his ascent of Mt Kilimanjaro when he was 18.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of our beloved Jayantilal Devchand Ramji Shah (Dodhia) of Mombasa, (Gaam Gajna) on 24 July 2022 in Nairobi Kenya

JD was loving husband and soul mate to Ansuya (Hansa ben)
JD was the much loved son of Late Paniben and Late Devchand Ramji Dodhia
He was the dear son-in- law of Late Amratben and Late Raishi Lakhamsi Shah and late Hansraj Bhai ‘ Kaka’ and late Gunvantiben ‘Masi’

Dad was our hero; father and father-in-law to Raju and Arti, Seiya and Birju, Ricky and Meera

He was ‘the Champion of the world’ and the most fun Nana/ Dada ever to Parissa & Savan, Kian & Sky and Kai and Aneya.

JD was a very dear brother and brother-in-law of Dr Manilal Dodhia & late Savitri, Prabhulal & late Chandrika, Himatlal & Vibha, Ashok & Kaushika, Dilip & Pravina, Aruna & Sudhir, Nimu & Anil.

JD was the much cherished brother-in-law of Late Zaverchand & Kanchanben, Gulab & Late Panna, Dinu & Rasik, Dilip & Nilam, Late Shantuben, Sunita & Shanti, Niru and Late Manu, Late Manjula & Mahesh, Bena & Vipul, Hitesh & Hasmita, Shailesh & Alpa.

He was cool Jayantikaka to Bansi, Ketul, Khilna, Alpa, Khilan, Akash, Aarti, Meeraj, Pooja, Malvi, Suraj and Sagar and fun loving mama to Vishal, Kaushal, Aarti, Amit and families.

He was lively Fua to Raju, Sunil, Chetan, Manan, Khilna, Hinesh & Paras and wonderful Masa to Samir, Meena, Anna ,Vijal, Raju,Meena, Uttam, Vijay, Kavita, Bhavini, Aasha, Nikhil, Arjun, Sachin, Priya & Anjali and families.

JD’s entire family, friends, children and grandchildren of our families: the golfers, the athletes, the horse riders, the intellectuals, the intrepid travellers, pizza lovers, the party people, the bridge players, the beach combers and all our parivar ( extended family) will miss him dearly as he was always up for fun, a laugh and forever young at heart.

He lived a beautiful and adventure filled life full with friends and family and with his true love Ansuya always by his side.

His corneas were donated within 6 hours, to Lions Eye Bank, Nairobi to bring sight to two blind people.

Om Shanti ~ thank you for your blessings for us all as we navigate life without Dad.
