Late Suryakant Motichand Shah (Mwalimu)

Late Suryakant Motichand Shah (Mwalimu)

It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Mr Suryakant Motichand Shah (Mwalimu) – born in Muranga – on Saturday 18th October 2025 in London UK, Aged 81.

He was husband of Rama Suryakant Shah.

He was father and father-in-law to Bhavini and Rahim Virani.

He was a dotting grandfather to Ava and Lana.

He was son of Late Monghiben Motichand Lakhamshi Shah and Late Motichand Lakhamshi Shah. He was son-in-law of Late Viraben Premchand Shah and Late Premchand Hirji Shah.

He was brother and brother-in-law to Late Jayaben & Late Liladhar, Late Kasturben & Late Kanji Nagaria, Late Amritlal & Late Lilawanti , Kantaben & Late Maganlal, Shantaben and Late Jayantilal Haria, Pramila & Ramesh, Chandrakant & Kirti, Tilochna & Vipul.

He was brother-in-law to Late Lalita & Late Harakhchand, Suryakala & Praful, Dhiru, Mahendra (Babu) & Indira and Geeta.

He was uncle and friend to many.

He was a truly remarkable man, independent in spirit, strong-willed in character, and endlessly caring. He was clever and knowledgeable, always ready to help others and share his wisdom. Though he was strict in behaviour and held high standards, it came from deep love and a wish to see everyone do their best. Quiet yet warm, firm yet kind, he lived with passion and purpose, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and cherished memories.

He made a heartfelt decision many years ago to donate his body for medicinal research and education, rather than having a funeral and sadri. This was something he often spoke about as a way to help others and give back.

We’re grateful to share that his wish has been honoured, King’s College London has accepted his donation. It brings us comfort to know that he continues to make a difference, true to his generous spirit and quiet strength. Thank you for your understanding and support.
