It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Yaswant Karman Meghji Shah on 17 July 2026, aged 80, in Sagar, India

Born in Kenya (Nairobi), residing in North London, UK

He was the beloved husband of Sobhna Yaswant Shah

He was the beloved son of Late Karman Meghji Shah and Late Ratanbai Karman

He was the devoted son-in-law of Late Lalji Dharamshi Gudka and Savitaben Lalji

He was the loyal brother and brother-in-law of Late Hansaben & Late Dharamshi Mepa (Kenya), Late Tajwanti (London), Late Tejwant (London) & Hasumati, Bhaskar & Smita

He was the loving “Papa” to Bharangi & Alan, Zina & Clint, Kushal & Soha, Chan & Glenn

He was the loving Grand-Papa to Archer, Jack, Mara, Ravi, Maya and Nikhil

He was the beloved brother-in-law of Satish & Sarla, Rekha & Late Vinod, Hitesh & Mala, Sunil & Varsha, Dipak & Dipti

He was the dear fuva to Rushit & Hema, Rupesh & Harsha, Suraj, Sagar & Kalyani, Misha & Hemal, Hema & Jinay, Poonam & Riten, Ravi & Bhavna

He was loving masa to Nikhil & Aarti, and Birju

He was mama to many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

His close relationships to Prabhaben & Rajnibanevi and Gauriben & Sureshbanevi were an important part of his life.

Papa was a strong, full-of-life person who loved people and the energy of community. He devoted much of his time and life giving to many children in India, most of whom were orphaned and in need of love and care. Supporting children to be educated, nurtured and loved over decades, Papa was a father figure to many. Seeing children flourish, from young age to marriage, filled his heart and soul.

His legacy lives on in the children whom he loved, cared and provided for.

May his beloved soul be in eternal peace

Funeral to be held on Thursday, 23 July 2026 in Mysore, India
