Leicester Area Yoga Afternoon

Yoga Afternoon – 10th June 2018

Yoga is an ancient form of exercise that focuses on strength, flexibility and breathing to boost physical and mental wellbeing.

Health & Welfare Committee of the Leicester Area organised a yoga afternoon on Sunday, 10th June 2018. The turnout of 25 members was well balanced with both young and elderly.

The event started with prayers followed by Jadavjibhai, the yoga instructor, showing different yoga asanas and explaining their benefits. He started with warm ups followed by some breathing and stretching exercises. In between the exercises some laughter yoga was practised. Everyone participated in most of the exercises. The eldest member who is 94 year old lady and wheel chair bound also performed some of these asanas.

Everyone enjoyed the afternoon which ended with tea & snacks. The snacks were a combination of ondhwo, fruit salad, ice cream, tea and biscuits which was appreciated by everyone. Big thanks to all the volunteers and donors. The community also honoured Jadavjibhai with presenting him with a shawl.
