Northants Diwali Programme

Diwali Programme – 14th October 2017

We at Northamptonshire area had our Diwali programme on Saturday 14th October 2017.  The children brought in some beautiful rangolis and diwali cards that were displayed for all members to see.

The programme started at 7:30 pm with recital of navkar mantra and welcome speech, this was followed a mini children’s variety programme.

Shreeya started off the evening with a short prayer; Arjun carried on with a talk on Diwali; we then had Devina who played the harmonium followed by her elder sister Tishna who played the harmonium too; We then had siblings Shanay, Devina and Tishna recite a prayer; Sienna did a puppet show about Ram and Sita; and as a conclusion to the programme Shreeya did a short play.

All the children who took part were very enthusiastic about whatever talent they performed.  We thank all the parents who encouraged and supported their children to take part in one of our cultural events.

For refreshments there was boondi, gathia and samosas.   A big thank you to all the volunteers who helped in the serving and clearing up afterwards including the helpers in the kitchen.

After the refreshments all the members settled down into three teams and Jyotsnaben took charge of playing antakshri.  It is amazing how much joy, laughter and a bit of friendly competition a game of antakshri brings.

As always, there is always time for impromptu garba in Northamptonshire.  The evening came to an end at 11p.m.

We wish you all a very Happy, Healthy, Peaceful and a Prosperous New Year.
