Don’t Sugarcoat it: Diabetes
Thursday 22 April 2021 at 8pm
The effects of diabetes are more serious than the vast majority of people understand. 500 people die prematurely because of diabetes every week. But, fewer than one in five people in the UK believe it’s a serious condition.
Diabetes can take over your life. It damages your blood vessels and organs, and doubles your risk of heart disease and stroke. It can lead to blindness, amputations and other complications. It’s a life of medical checks, precise regulation, taking meds, injections, and emotional drain.
At our fourth OWL webinar, we will hear from a young person about growing up around elders with hereditary diabetes. Professor Kamlesh Kunthi will talk about research and self help and tips and diet advice will be given by Smita Ganatra.
