Pushpaben Chandrakant Lakhani (née Majithia)

With sincere regret and great sorrow, we announce the untimely passing of our beloved Pushpaben Chandrakant Lakhani who departed this mortal earth peacefully in her sleep, with her family around her, on Wednesday 14th March 2018, in London.
Born on 15th August 1941 in Namutumba (Uganda), daughter of Jamnadas Hirji Majithia and Jayakuwar Jamnadas Majithia.
Beloved sister of Laxmiben, Manilal, Sureshbhai, Urmilaben, Shantibhai, Vinodbhai and Pratibhaben.
Wife of the late Chandrakant Bhagwanji Lakhani of Jinja (Uganda), Manchester and Leicester. They were married in May 1959. Sister-in-law to Harivadan, Himatbhai, Manguben, Prafulbhai (Late), Sarojben, Induben and Pankajbhai.
Devoted and loving mother to Sunil, Jaimini, Nikhil and Avni.
Even the strongest and most loved leaders cannot resist the march of time forever. Pushpaben was no different. Leadership is serving for the good of others. She served her family, her friends and her community; sacrificing her needs to put all others before her.
At that time, in Africa and then in England, this was the norm for many mothers. Yet even in this, she excelled and was renowned for her attention to detail, hospitality and personal touch. Whoever came to visit, she would inevitably have their favourite food ready for them. In recent times, when she couldn’t do it herself, she would insist that it be done for them. She gave everything and asked for nothing in return.
With a lovely, innocent sense of humour, Pushpaben was the epitome of character, strength and resilience.
A fighter until the end. Her spirit, tenacity and refusal to be beaten, lives on in each of us.
