Dhaja Din Celebrations at Oshwal Centre

We warmly invite all members and families to join us at Oshwal Centre on Sunday 20 September 2026 for our Dhaja Din celebrations.

It will be a special and auspicious day of puja, Dhaja hoisting, darshan, community celebration and Swamivatsalya bhojan, with the opportunity to welcome and take darshan of a precious Prachin Murti from the British Museum inside Oshwal House.

Event Overview

Date: Sunday 20 September 2026

Venue: Oshwal Centre
8:00 a.m.: Snatra Puja – upstairs hall
Morning: Sattar Bhedi Puja, including Dhaja Puja
Late morning: Procession to the Derasar, Dhaja ceremonies and hoisting of the main and 24 Deri Dhajas
During the celebrations: Special welcome and darshan of the Prachin Murti from the British Museum at Oshwal House

Special welcome: Children’s choir and appropriate Stavans

Following the celebrations: Swamivatsalya Bhojan hosted by the North West Area

Important for Members
There will be a large number of people attending, and some areas will have strict capacity and health & safety controls

Please follow the guidance of our volunteers throughout the day, particularly around the Derasar, Dhaja hoisting areas and Oshwal House. Access to certain areas will be restricted to labarthis and designated family members/guests

Information & Itinerary for Dhaja Din

8:00 a.m. – Snatra Puja

We will begin with Snatra Puja at 8:00 a.m. in the upstairs hall. The puja will take approximately 30–45 minutes

The six labarthis whose names have been drawn to participate in Snatra should come dressed in puja clothes

Following Snatra – Sattar Bhedi Puja

This will be followed by Sattar Bhedi Puja, which is expected to be completed by approximately 11:30am, followed by Aarti, Mangal Divo and Shanti Kalash

Please help us by observing the timings so that the day’s programme can run smoothly

The ninth puja is the Dhaja Puja

All 24 Deri Dhaja labarthis will be permitted to stand below the stage – 12 people on either side – together with the main Dhaja labarthi(s), as directed

To avoid congestion, our volunteers will guide everyone throughout this part of the ceremony. Please respect their instructions

Once the dhal for Dhaja Puja is completed, the labarthis will return to their places

Members are encouraged to take labh and participate in these auspicious moments

Procession to the Derasar

At the conclusion of the Saterbedhi Puja, there will be a celebratory procession with dhol music, with the Dhaja labarthis carrying their respective Dhajas towards the Derasar

For each of the 24 Deris, strictly four guests/family members will be permitted to accompany the respective labarthi group

We ask everyone to follow the guidance of our volunteers so that the procession can take place safely and smoothly

Main Dhaja Hoisting

Following darshan and puja, the main Dhaja will be hoisted

To ensure everyone’s safety and prevent congestion, the area will be cordoned off and health and safety arrangements will be strictly monitored

Only six members of the main Dhaja labarthi’s family will be permitted inside the designated enclosure

The old Dhaja will be taken down and the new Dhaja fitted and hoisted by the labarthi pariwar

For safety reasons, labarthis will not climb to the top. Work at height will be carried out by OAUK volunteers and the cherry-picker staff

Only those participating in the ceremony will be permitted within the designated area. This will be strictly adhered to for health and safety reasons

24 Deri Dhajas

The old Dhajas will first be taken down by volunteers and carefully placed aside in thalis

Volunteers will then guide the labarthis to perform Ashtaprakari Puja at their respective Deri, after which the new Dhajas will be hoisted

Up to four family members or friends may be present for this part of the ceremony

Darshan in the Derasar

Puja Shri Jayeshbhai will perform darshan in the Derasar, followed by Aarti and Mangal Divo with the Dhaja labarthis

Numbers entering the Derasar will be strictly monitored for health and safety reasons

To avoid overcrowding, only labarthis should enter the Derasar at this time

A Special Visit from the Prachin Murti

During the day’s celebrations, we are honoured to welcome a Prachin Murti from the British Museum

It will be a very special moment for our community as we welcome the Murti into Oshwal House with pride and reverence

Those who are able to sing are warmly invited to join in with appropriate Stavans during this special occasion

We will also be joined by our children’s choir, who will perform to welcome the Murti into Oshwal House

For health and safety reasons, the Murti will be cordoned off and numbers within the Oshwal House hall will be monitored

Following the children’s choir performance, everyone will have an opportunity to pay their respects and take darshan

Our volunteers will be present to guide members and help ensure that everyone has the opportunity to participate smoothly
