South Area – Origami Workshop: A Thousand Cranes for Peace

Join us for a relaxed Origami Workshop

  • Date: Sunday 23rd August 2026
  • Time: 11am-2pm
  • Location: Oshwal Sport & Social Club, 34 Mollison Drive, Wallington, SM6 9BY

We’re aiming to welcome the start of Paryushan with a display of ‘A Thousand Cranes for Peace’.

The idea stems from Japanese folklore whereby folding 1000 paper cranes symbolises peace.

This is a hands-on session for adults & children ages 5+ (though we recommend adult supervision for under 8s), guided by Origamist, Shreya Malik.

You do not need previous experience to participate, however there are lots of Youtube videos to follow along to if you want to practice beforehand.

Prices:

  • £3 – Members
  • £4 – Non members.

Please drop in between start/end time welcome.

Please message Sheena J Shah directly if you’re an expert origamist and are able to assist in guiding participants – we’d appreciate any and all help on the day.
